November 7 Update: The latest public health  order only applies to the Vancouver and Fraser Valley Regions. We will continue to meet and exceed protocols prescribed by the Provincial Public Health Officer as our top priority is the health and safety of our community
The health and safety of our staff and students is our top priority. In addition to consulting with students, teachers and Ambassadors we have been in consultation with Island Health, Worksafe BC, and other studio owners. We have devised our Covid protocols, which meet or exceed suggested guidelines. Your in-studio experience will be different, especially in the early stages. We want to thank you for your patience with us as we navigate this unprecedented process.

We’ve been busy in the studio organizing, sanitizing, and updating our operating protocols so we can warmly welcome you back!
The guidelines we have laid out are non-negotiable for the health and safety of our staff, students, and the wider community. Thank you for your awareness, understanding, and respect for the SHY community by following these updated studio policies.

  • Assess yourself for any symptoms of COVID-19 (runny nose, sore throat, new cough, difficulty breathing, fever). If you have any of these symptoms please stay home. If you arrive at the studio with any of these symptoms, you will not be permitted to take class.
  • Have you tested positive for COVID-19, or come into contact with someone who has? Please do not come to the studio until you’ve tested negative.
  • Have you travelled outside of BC in the last 14 days? If so please do not come to the studio until you have self-isolated for 14 days.

  • You must sign up for classes in advance via our website (under schedule) or mobile mindbody app for all classes. We cannot currently accommodate walk-ins at this time.
  • Online registration closes 6 hours before class begins.
  • You can sign up for classes up to a week in advance.
  • Please note that class capacity for in-person classes is currently limited to 12 spots. We recommend booking early!

  • You must bring your own mat, towel, and full water bottle.
  • Towel and mat rentals are discontinued until further notice.
  • We cannot offer studio props such as blocks and straps at this time. You are welcome to bring your own props from home, or to purchase props through our website (see "Purchase Props").
  • Our change rooms and showers are closed until further notice, so please plan ahead and arrive ready for class. (There will be a single use washroom for toilet use only, if needed.)

  • Please line up outside (at a safe distance) until a staff member invites you into the studio.
  • Please use the hand sanitizing station upon entry into the studio.
  • Sign in at the desk with your name. You’ll be given a number which corresponds to your designated spot in the yoga room.
  • Please proceed to your designated spot and set up your practice space.
  • Teachers will have their own practice space and no physical assists will be made at this time.

  • Teachers will guide class from their own space and will not walk around.
  • Teachers will not offer any hands-on adjustments.
  • Teachers will not offer any open-mouth or vigorous breathing exercises.
  • Please stay on your mat throughout class. Need to leave? Please let the teacher know so we can assist you.

  • Please exit the studio promptly after class under the direction of the teacher.
  • If you have questions for the teacher or would like to visit please head outside so that everyone can maintain a safe distance.
  • Though we’d love to visit, we can’t offer you tea for the time being.
  • Please remember, our change rooms and showers are not available right now.
  • Need to cancel a class you’re registered for? No problem. You can do so via our website or mobile app.
  • You can cancel up until 6 hours before class is scheduled to start.
  • If you cancel within 6 hours of class, or don’t show up for a class you’re registered for, we reserve the right to charge you a $15 no-show/late cancel fee.

  • If a class that you want to attend is full, you can sign up to be put on the waitlist.
  • If someone cancels out of class, the person at the top of the waitlist is automatically added in.
  • You will receive an email letting you know that you’ve been added into class.
  • If you are accepted into a class and can no longer attend, please cancel yourself out of class as per the cancellation policies listed above.

  • Staff will deep clean all common areas and high touch surfaces before and after each class.
  • Classes will be scheduled with and hour between them to provide ample time to clean and disinfect.
  • A hand sanitizing station will be available at the studio entrance. Please make use of it when you arrive at the studio.
  • If you need to use the washroom, thank you for washing your hands thoroughly and giving the sink and handles a wipe down with paper towel.

  • Staff are monitoring their health closely and will not be coming into the studio for any reason if they are feeling unwell.
  • Staff will be wearing non-medical masks when they enter the yoga room to teach a class and any time that social distancing cannot be maintained.
  • You are welcome to wear a non-medical mask while in the studio.
  • Support your community by practicing physical distancing when you are at the studio. Leave 2 metres of space between you and others at all times.
